Success Academy has put the charter schools on a platform for becoming a national accomplishment for their students. Recently, the high-achieving students traveled to Nashville, Tennessee to participate in the U.S. Chess Federation tournament. Students competed against chess players from all across the country. In total, there were 136 students who participated in the tournament while representing 16 Success Academy Schools. Many of the students traveled on a plane for the very first time.
Success Academy has enriched the student’s expectations for understanding how much more they can achieve beyond their basic academics. In a playful environment, yet competitive, the students dominated within several teams throughout the tournament; with one team being tied for first place and several others reaching the top ten ranking.
The students of Success Academy have now become accustomed to achieving high-performance. And while there is a great amount of humility within the attitudes of the students, it is very clear they have a great desire to want to reach their highest potential.
In 2016, among all schools within the state of New York, Success Academy ranked within the top one percent in math, top five percent in science and top two percent within English; proving that their skill level has surpassed expectations. Teachers have worked tirelessly to support the students using a curriculum that continues to have a great impact on learning.
While there are always challenges with any learning ability with young people, the charter school has consistently found a way to improve upon their education program. Teachers remain committed with one-to-one learning with each student, in addition to instructor-led learning that in itself is producing outstanding results within the classroom.
For eight consecutive years, the students have amply contributed to Success Academy becoming the highest-performing school throughout the entire state of New York.
